Keeping in mind the sombering news of the terrorist-hate shooting in Orlando, Florida, host extraordinaire, James Corden, opened the the 70th annual ceremony of the Tony Awards with a statement.

"Theater is a place where every race, creed, sexuality and gender is embraced and is loved. Hate will never win. Together, we will make sure of that. Tonight's show is a symbol and a celebration of that principle. This is the Tony Awards."

With that, the show must go on and Corden kicked it off with a hilarious, singing/dancing/farcical opening number.
