FORTUNATELY I HAD THE DISTINCT PLEASURE OF WORKING WITH MR. GLOVER. I THEREFORE AM A TESTIMONY TO THE INNOVATIVENESS OF HIS MUSICAL ABILITIES. MR. GLOVER IS A LEGEND. I WILL NEVER FORGET HIS SOOTHING SILK VOICE THAT ACCOMPANIED HIS PIANO PLAYING, AS WELL AS HIS ABILITY TO PULL TOGETHER TOP MUSICIANS FOR GIGS. EVERYONE I KNOW WHO HAD THE PLEASURE OF SEEING HIM IN PERFORMANCE WERE IN COMPLETE AWE. HIS STAGE APPEARANCE WAS ALWAYS STEADFAST. I CAN CLEARLY UNDERSTAND YOUR RATIONALIZATION TO INCLUDE HIM IN YOUR WEBSITE. HE WAS A POSITIVE MOTIVATING FORCE WITH A LOT OF PATIENCE. HE WAS ONE OF THOSE FEW COMPOSERS WHO COULD LISTEN TO A RECORD AND MAKE LEAD SHEETS FOR PERFORMERS IN THEIR SPECIFIC KEY. ALSO HE WAS A RARE BREED OF PERFORMER WHO COULD PLAY AND SING AT THE SAME TIME. A TOUR-DE-FORCE EVEN QUEEN OF SOUL ARETHA FRANKLIN ADMITS IS HARD TO DO. AND WHILE MR. GLOVER CAN BE COUNTED WITH THE LIKES OF DUKE ELLINGTON, HERBIE HANCOCK, STEVIE WONDER, BARRY MANILOW, LIONEL HAMPTON, JAMES BROWN, COUNT BASIE, BARRY WHITE AND ARETHA FRANKLIN, JUST TO NAME A FEW. HE WAS NEVER TOO BIG OR IMPORTANT TO HUMBLY MEET AND GREET HIS ADORING FANS WHILE SUPPLYING THEM WITH AUTOGRAPHS. SURELY THE ANGELS IN HEAVEN ARE ENJOYING THE MAGNIFICENT TALENTS OF MR. LEROY GLOVER, AND ALTHOUGH THOSE OF US REMAINING ON EARTH MISS HIM VERY MUCH, WE UNDERSTAND HIS WORK WAS FINISHED HERE AND CONTINUES BESIDE OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN. IN FACT, WE FEEL VERY BLESSED TO HAVE SHARED A TIME AND PLACE WITH HIM. ONE THING YOU DID MENTION WAS AN ALBUM. I WAS NOT APPRISED OF THE FACT THAT MR. GLOVER RELEASED AN ALBUM. I WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE YOU TELLING ME HOW I MIGHT ACQUIRE A COPY. I AM A HUGE FAN, FOLLOWER OR WHATEVER LABEL YOU WANT TO PUT ON ME, BUT I HAVE JUST GOT TO HAVE A COPY OF THAT ALBUM. PLEASEEEEE TELL ME HOW I MIGHT GET ONE IN MY HANDS. YOUR BIOGRAPHY WAS VERY WELL WRITTEN. I TAKE GREAT COMFORT IN BEING PRIVILEGED IN THE COGNIZANCE OF ITS AWARENESS. I WOULD HOWEVER; LIKED TO HAVE BEEN TEASED TO A SAMPLE OF THE GLORIOUS SOUNDS OF MR. GLOVER AT YOUR SITE. MAYBE WHEN YOU UPDATE IT, THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED. THANK YOU FOR GIVING RECOGNITION TO A TRUE TRAILBLAZER. ' Gatsby Melodi |
"Hello Marjorie; Both the tribute to your late husband and the e-mail... were great. It must feel good to know one has such caring and loving friends. Your husband was truly a great man and person. It's obvious he brought great music, joy and love to all who knew him and your romance must have been second to none. His musical talents were majestic. I can understand why it as taken as long as it has for you to decide to move on, and I know there'll always be a special place in your heart for him. I will talk to you later." Arthur
"Our wonderful memories of Rainbow and Stars are all wrapped up in
the musicianship and personality of Roy Glover. We miss him. We still love
Rainbow and Stars, but there is a special time when Roy Glover was at the
piano, and that will always remain with us. Thank you for the site and the
opportunity to express our feelings with others who were his fans. "
Maria and Gabe DeAngelis,
Long Island.

"I've always enjoyed my trips to New York and visiting the Rainbow and Stars. I do miss Roy Glover at the piano. Listening to him play, I would know I was in for an hour and a half of pleasure, and in fact there were times that Roy's performance overshadowed the main event. He is really missed." Marvin Weiner, Los Angeles, CA.
"Thank you for the fitting memories of Roy in your charming CityCabaret. In response to your suggestion that we share our thoughts, I wanted you to have a copy of these words written by my husband, Michael:
'I don't precisely remember the tune now but I clearly see the composer and arranger. Roy, or LeRoy as we called him then, was about 17. The place was the High School of Music and Art and the richly arranged original work was the signature piece for the class musical. Roy was at the piano working the theme through a solidly resonating progression of chords that alternately stirred and soothed and made one wish that that unique rhythmic, singing sound, when it was about to conclude, would have just one more reprise.
'We were in awe of of this talent. I sense we all felt more important in our then startup world because he was in our midst and he was ours! And if you let him know how you felt about his work, he would smile, laugh self-consciously and maybe offer a soft, 'Thank you.' He was shy then, too, a teenager of few words because he could express the essence of his feelings, even then, so eloquently through his music.
'Some 35 years later there was a party at Roy and Majorie's beautiful home overlooking a sparkling piece of the Manhattan skyline. It was the fourth of July, a happy event involving good friends and good food. During it, one guest, possibly because of the champagne, began bashing America in words that truly exceeded any fair estimate of our condition at that time--and it distressed Roy. One could see him struggling to defuse what promised to become raucous but he couldn't find the words. And so he got up, sat down at his grand piano and played 'America, The Beautiful' in a most astonishingly emotional way. The room grew quiet. Roy was speaking and what he had to say produced tears on more than one face.'
"Thanks for the opportunity to share our memories of this most special man, Liz." Barbara Laurence, California.
"The power and beauty of his notes matched the power and beauty of his persona. I was instantly won over by that perfectly shaped face, an African sculpture, a sparkling smile...Words like, symmetry, clean lined, brilliant color, described Roy, the man and the musician." Maurice Peress, musician, 1995.
"Notes on my cuff after visiting Rainbow & Stars: Pianist extraordinaire Roy Glover has a fan -- Dan Rather." Gary Stevens, syndicated columnist.
"I loved the way that Roy 'dug in' when he played, be it a rag, a stride or the most encouraging accompaniment for me when I had the honor to sing with him...One of a kind." Paul and Deana Balvour, California.
